The Glass Prism - Poe Through the Glass Prism (1969)

Personnel:
AUGGIE CHRISTIANO bs A
RICK RICHARDS drms A
CARL SIRACUSE keyb'ds A
TOM VERANO gtr A

ALBUMS:
1(A) POE THROUGH THE GLASS PRISM (RCA LSP 4201) 1969
2(A) ON JOY AND SORROW (RCA LSP 4270) 1970

45:
1 The Raven/El Dorado (RCA Victor 74-0205) 1969

Their first album is an attempt to set poems by Edgar Allan Poe to a rock format. Although they don't really pull it off the music isn't bad on cuts like The Raven. Much more relevant is the second album, which features some great guitar work, especially on Extention 68. Both albums are available quite cheaply. The band were mostly Italian Americans who came from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area of Pennsylvania. They were previously known as El Caminos and also made recordings under that name.
Tom and Rick later formed a power trio called Shenandoah with bassist Lou Cossa. Later still Cossa and Carl Siracuse joined 'one-hit' wonder band The Buoys, the nucleus of which then became Dakota.
(Vernon Joynson / Tom Truszkowski / Chris Kraynak)

The Raven
To-
To One in Paradise
Eldorado
The Conqueror Worm
A Dream Within a Dream
